This is in an effort to thwart scammers who have a zero post count but private message others offering to sell their licenses. The restriction is not strict, a user must post at least one (1) post in the forum before being allowed to start and/or receive private conversations. Read Forum Post

I've read many conflicting accounts on other forums so I'd like to ask here.

I have a vBulletin 3.x Forum (Owned) Inactive - Expired license I'd like to sell.

Can this be transferred to someone else?

Expired licenses cannot be transferred. Are you the originally purchaser of the license?

Then once you renew the license, you should be able to transfer it.

I clicked Upgrade/Renew but it took me to a page to upgrade/renew to version 5.

You can't transfer v5 licenses correct?

Plus, I would actually be losing money by renewing and then selling it right?

Interesting. Perhaps they aren't allowing renewals on vb 3.x licenses? You may have to ask vBulletin about this.

You can transfer v5 licenses only if you are an EU resident and you transfer to an EU resident.

Yes, you will no doubt lose money if upgrade your license to vb5. Not advisable.
